2019

This sound piece is a sentence from Elfriede Jelinek’s nobel prize interview where she talks about how she practiced ‘a kind of musical language process in which the sound of the words […] has to expose their true meaning against their will.’ I’m narrating this line with layers of sound panning between the two ears. I’ve played and recorded piano notes and slowed them down to the extent of abstraction, just the way the words are fragmented through repetition. Piano is used to generate the musical effect for the words, also my introduction to her writings being through ‘The Piano Teacher’ novel, a naive but genuine interrelation.

(It is recommended to listen to the sound piece using headphones to experience it as intended)
